What We Do

Child Welfare—

Upward Development, Inc. tailors services to meet youth and families’ existing and emerging needs. We deliver individualized direct services to families involved in the Child Welfare system that focuses on safety and are built on strengths to help overcome the challenges often involved with navigating complicated systems.  We have developed positive connections to the community that are critical for the long-term success of our clients.

Juvenile Justice—

Upward Development, Inc. is committed to ensuring that high-risk youth involved in the juvenile justice system can safely and effectively be served in home and community-based settings; such a model allows the community to care for these children for a fraction of the cost of out-of-home placement models. Upward Development Programs Inc. offers alternatives to traditional detention and incarceration models and instead offers support for youth post-adjudication to help with compliance and other goals while providing reintegration support for youth transitioning out of placement.

School-Based Supports—

Upward Development, Inc. assists with various children’s needs that often burden school personnel; we offer support for schools, families, and community members to meet all needs. We work with students with the highest risk of school failure and those with the most complex needs. These students are often at the highest risk of expulsion or suspension, failing due to problems at home, presenting behavioral problems, truancy, experiencing bullying issues, being involved in gangs and substance abuse, and being emotionally or developmentally challenged. We ensure service delivery addresses all needs that impede student access to high-quality education.

Developmental Disabilities—

Upward Development, Inc. works with children and adults with developmental disabilities and autism (spectrum disorders). We commit to working with self-advocates, their families, and professionals from various backgrounds to develop a working model focusing on specialized planning, promoting independence, relationship building, purposeful decision-making, and inclusion.

Behavioral Health Services—

Upward Development, Inc. offers families and referring entities a community-based program of care that demonstrates a unique ability to adhere to government regulations while providing family-friendly services. We contract with mental health systems, managed care organizations (MCOs), and private insurers to offer fee-for-service and case-rate Medicaid services.

Re-Entry Support—

Upward Development, Inc. supports adults and their families, including intensive individualized planning in their homes, work, and communities. With an emphasis on engaging parents with their children, reunifying incarcerated parents with their children, substance abuse, employment, and transitional/permanent housing, Upward Development Programs Inc. strives to ensure that families reunify as smoothly as possible while adhering to the predetermined goals. 

Supportive Housing—

Upward Development, Inc. assists individuals and families who are homeless and who are identified as having unmet housing needs to find transitional and permanent housing within their communities.

Substance Use Services—

Upward Development, Inc. provides specialized individual services to assist individuals, parents, or children affected by substance abuse/use.
